Mrs Hawaii America, Meghan Akim is a wife, an entrepreneur and community leader. Born and raised on Oahu, Meghan received her education from one of the top private schools in Hawaii, Punahou School, and then went on to graduate from Duke University to major in Neuroscience with a focus on education, marketing and management, and a certificate in Marine Biology. Spending most of her adult life in the Kaimuki area, she thought it was only right to run under the Mrs Kaimuki title for the Mrs Hawaii America Pageant. “Kaimuki is very dear to my heart. I believe it is one of the few remaining hub communities that continues to rely on the close knit culture we grow up with here in the islands. I love how our community is still so very intertwined with each other from the various businesses, to the schools, and the community members." With a Hawaiian, Irish and Chinese background she hopes to spread the ideals of her motto F.L.Y and the Aloha spirit throughout not only the state of Hawaii, but across the US and internationally as well.

“F.L.Y stands for First (Learn to) Love Yourself. I want others to use this motto as a means to empower themselves and break free from the things that are holding them back whether it may be from past trauma, self doubt, or simply just going against the grain. Only through acknowledging and unlocking our own potential and inner strength can we truly tap into our power of being able to help others.”

F.L.Y is also very important to Meghan in the literal sense, as you can catch her in the skies as a flight attendant for Hawaiian Airlines, with dreams of soon becoming a pilot. Her passion for people and education continues through her other endeavors as she currently sits on the non-profit board at a local charter school named Dream House Ewa Beach. Dream House is a school with a high focus on 21st century skill building, empathy, leadership, and a passionate commitment to our island community. “I expect big things out of these homegrown leaders. Keep an eye out for them as they will undoubtedly change Hawaii and the world in so many positive ways.” As she prepares to step onto the big stage and represent Hawaii amongst the other states, her goal is to be the third woman to bring home the national crown title of Mrs America and move on to Mrs Worlds. She believes what makes her unique is her sense of genuine love for another human and the idea that we are all connected in this world. “As Mrs America, my goal is to be an extension of the values of Hawaii, whilst helping to empower others around the world through self-love and education so that we can all FLY."
